“Siberia” by Lights

Have you been searching for something new and original to listen to lately? Does everything on the radio sound the same and leave you hanging? If you answered yes to the previous questions, don’t worry the search is over. Canadian electropop star Lights recently released her second album, Siberia, and the sound is bigger and better than before.

Even if you are not familiar with Lights, this album is a great way to get introduced to her unique sound. It begins with title track, Siberia, and it immediately sets the album up for success. Her vocals are light and almost ghost-like along with lyrics that will get stuck in your head (in a good way). Lights also incorporates dubstep on a few tracks. At first, I thought this would affect her soft vocals, but it adds an element of surprise. Siberia has several tracks that are worth mentioning; for example, Toes, Banner, And Counting…, and Peace Sign. Each of these songs has a good beat, powerful lyrics, and conveys an emotion.

Not all artists are lucky enough to produce an album that has something for everyone. This album is pop, electro, indie pop, dubstep, and it also features rap. I highly recommend purchasing Siberia on iTunes so you can experience it for yourself.
