Free Cell Phone Service From Scratch Wireless

Free Cell Phone Service From Scratch WirelessIt’s no secret that cell phone companies take advantage of their customers by charging crazy prices for their phones and then when you get the phone you end up paying more than you should for service just so you can use it. Why are we being taken advantage of? That’s what got me thinking about other options in the cellular market, and it didn’t take me long to discover Scratch Wireless. This cellular provider offers something that made me question my sanity, FREE cell service with no strings attached!

Here’s how it works. First, you buy their Android Smartphone, the brilliant Motorola Photon Q. I was shocked by how nice the phone is. It sports an amazing color display, a pretty nice camera, a slide-out keyboard, and a ton of other features. I compared it to my iPhone’s interface, and found that I preferred the freshness of the Android operating system. After you have the phone, it takes about 5 minutes total to get things set up and running.

The cellular service works like this. Anytime you are around a wi-fi network, you connect to it and the cell phone uses the wireless network to make phone calls, send txt messages, and do things that require data. If you’re away from a wi-fi network then you can still send unlimited free txt messages, but if you want to make a call or use data you have the option to buy a pass. Passes are super affordable, starting at just $1.99 for a day pass, which gives you 30 minutes of talk time. You might just be surprised at how often you’re around a wireless signal though.

At home, at work, at college, at Starbucks, almost anywhere you go there is usually a wi-fi network that you can connect to. This is the ideal phone for anyone who wants to cut their wireless bill or even eliminate it completely! The entire idea operates flawlessly and I haven’t found anything to complain about. When you aren’t on wi-fi the phone will use the Sprint network for service, and even in the somewhat rural area where we are located, we had a nice signal to go off of.

One thing to note is that you currently cannot send MMS txt messages, so no pictures unless you use an app like Kik. When you look at all of the benefits of getting a Scratch Wireless phone, it really makes you wonder why you’ve been paying such a high cell phone bill all of these years. The phone is great, the service is spectacular, and we recommend it to anyone who doesn’t enjoy paying a fortune for cell service and prefers FREE over paid. We have gathered some of our favorite and most proven ways to make money as a college student all here in one place, just for you!

First, let’s cover the ways that you can make money in person as a college student, while these methods require a little extra effort on your part, they are often times the most rewarding when it comes time to get paid!

Check With your College or University’s Career Office

Most all colleges and universities have an office or some place on campus or online where students can view open job listings or get in touch with someone who can help them get started with work study or an on campus job. If you live on campus this can be a great way to make some extra cash without having to leave the campus.

Make Use Of Bulletin Boards

Every college has bulletin boards around campus, chances are you find yourself stopping at them frequently to check out what’s new! Use this to your advantage. Post flyers selling old textbooks, dorm appliances, etc. If you offer a service, post it here too! For instance, if you offer tutoring or are looking for a roommate to split the cost of living on or off campus, post those here! Just make sure it complies with your college’s rules about posting stuff around campus.

Tutor

This may not be useful if you are the person needing tutoring, but generally everyone has a subject or two that they are really good at. You don’t have to tutor in every subject, but if you rock at Math, by all means, tutor people in it! Make some extra cash while keeping the gears in your brain going.

Now that we’ve covered a few really cool ways to make money in person on or around campus, let’s get into the odd jobs and internet jobs that are for the student seeking some extra cash who doesn’t want to commit to any strict hours, like with a regular job. The pay is going to be a little less predictable, but these are ways of making cash that we know work!

eBay

Yes, we’re serious. You would be surprised how much your unwanted books, games, and DVD’s are worth. Get creative and do some buying and selling with friends, buy cheap and resell it online for a profit. If this doesn’t sound like your thing, that’s fine, it isn’t everyone’s, but you can make some serious cash if you learn to use eBay to your advantage!

Fiverr

You may or may not know about this website by now, but if you don’t and you’re a college student, you need to! All you need is a PayPal account to get started, that’s it. Basically you post a listing known as a “gig” on Fiverr for what you will do in exchange for $5. Now it doesn’t sound like a lot of cash, but trust us, it adds up fast! You can do anything from read over papers and check for spelling errors, take a picture of yourself holding a fan sign, distribute flyers around town or campus, etc. the possibilities are endless, and there are some super odd things people do for $5 on that website! Now, keep in mind that you only get to keep $4 for every “gig” you sell, Fiverr keeps a dollar from each sale you make. You also have to wait 14 days for each payment to clear, but this allows your amount to add up, so no worries.

Yardsellr

Much like eBay, you can sell things from around the house that you don’t need, and if you choose to have the cash deposited in your bank account there are no fees, nice huh?!

Make YouTube Videos

This may sound a little “out there” for some people, but believe it or not, some people make hundreds of thousands of dollars making YouTube videos every month. Now we’re not saying that you will, but you can make some decent extra cash if you monetize your videos and get an AdSense account. Just keep in mind that you will need to pay taxes on your earnings.

Write A Book

You may think we’re joking, but you can make some really good extra cash if you write a book and publish it to the Kindle or in paperback using CreateSpace. You get a percentage from every sale, and this is something that a lot of college students like to do. Advertise your book on campus, if you have a large campus you may find yourself a local star! Do book signings on campus with your school or a groups permission. It’s a fun and creative way to make some extra cash.

There are a million ways to make money as a college student, you may even want to try a combination of the suggestions we gave. Just do what works best for you, we know it’s tough being a student sometimes, but with perseverance you can find a way to make cash that works great for you!

Get A Student Discover Card & Refer Friends

This is perhaps our favorite way to make cash as a student. Apply for a Student Discover Card by clicking the header. You will get $50 for using our link when you sign up to use same as cash on Amazon.com or for rewards and cool things like that, then each friend that you refer to get a card, you will get $50 more! Discover only gives you like a $1,000 limit to start so don’t worry about going too crazy. It’s also a brilliant way to build up your credit while in college! Use it responsibility and refer friends like crazy! You will be surprised how fast it adds up!

Make Money Online With Fiverr

Many people at their homes look for quick and easy ways to make a few dollars on the side. There are so many different places that claim to be a real source of online income, but how many of them are reliable? We decided to put the website Fiverr.com to the test. At Fiverr you tell everyone what you will do for $5 and they choose to buy your “gig” or not. A “gig” is what your service is called on Fiverr. Now, here’s where the confusing part comes in!

While the website is named Fiverr, suggesting that you actually make money in five dollar increments, you only get to keep four of those five dollars. Fiverr themselves take a dollar from each gig you sell. While this fee is very reasonable, some people do not like it. What sets Fiverr apart from the other money making websites out there? Well, it’s very simple to use, manage your gigs, receive payments that get sent to your PayPal, make a few dollars on the side, and of course Fiverr has a huge audience so your gig’s are sure to get viewed!

Oh, one more thing that you REALLY need to know about, because I find this quite annoying myself, is that once you complete a gig the money you get from it is held for 14 days to clear in their system. This allows you to build up more profits within those 14 days, but by then you of course have more money that needs to clear. You can withdraw after the 14 days and send the money straight to your PayPal account, but PayPal takes out their share, so it’s actually best to build up around $50 before you withdraw although you can withdraw at no minimum! So, all-in-all, we love Fiverr, and if you can put up with their small quirks and flaws, you can make some serious pocket change over some time. You won’t get rich, but you will get a few extra dollars! This is a real solution to making money on the side, it works, it’s not hard to use, it just takes time and your willingness to do things for fiver dollars and only get to keep four of it. So go ahead and give it look, Fiverr.com!

Chegg It Out

Chegg.com for those of you not in know is a website developed around in new trends in academic life. It’s a book store for college text books that not only allows you to buy these books but also gives you the option to rent. Renting text books is a trend that has grown quicker than the gremlin population at all you can eat buffet after midnight. Everyone is doing it know from the bookstores on college campuses across the nation to major corporations like Amazon. Now these website are useful for starving college students as they can save cash paying almost half price or lower for their text books, but there are several catches one must look at before deciding to rent books.

The first one is how responsible you are. You see me being the irresponsible college student I am, would forget to mail the books back to Chegg and since I used my irresponsible debit card to pay for it, the money gets taken out of my bank out when the due date hits. Putting people like my self out of money. The second item you have to look at when renting is whether you’re going to need the book in the future. College is supposed to get you ready for a professional career and further learning, as you might need to reference a text at your job because I actually didn’t learn anything like me. Go Me! So if I rented the book I can’t reference seeing as I had to return it, thus in my perfectly pessimistic world I lose my job. Anyway, so choosing whether or not to use Chegg ultimately depends on how responsible are you with time and money, with a little bit of foresight thrown in.
